5 reasons you should invest in a new build property in Devon
New build properties are an attractive prospect for would-be buyers. They guarantee quality and energy-efficiency, they’re a way of purchasing a property that isn’t in the midst of a complex chain and they allow buyers to benefit from purchasing schemes from developers or the Government.
But, when it comes to property, no choice can be made until you’ve weighed up the all-important factor: location.
We can think of no better place to get on the property ladder than Devon. Here’s five reasons why:
Availability
First things first, if you want to purchase a new build property you’ll need to select a location in which there is plenty of choice in this part of the market. If you take a look at new build properties in the south west, there are more developments in Devon than there are in Cornwall, Dorset or Somerset. Our county, therefore, offers a good range of choice in the new build market.
Quality of life
You’ll ideally want to buy a new home in a location that offers a good quality of life and, when it comes to this, nowhere in the country can match Devon. You don’t have to take our word for it either, Country Life Magazine recently named the county as the best location to live in England.
The magazine ranked every county on a whole host of categories, with Devon performing particularly well for its green credentials, local food, pubs, heritage and landscape.
Editor Mark Hedges said: "Few counties can match the variety that Devon manages to pack inside its borders.
“Devon has always had a special place in many people's hearts as a favourite place for family holidays, to escape city life, and to retire. Our survey shows that Devon really does deliver the dream."
A great place to bring up a family
Yet, while Mark mentions the family holidays, the escape from city life and retirement dream, he fails to note that Devon is also a great place to bring up a family – with a top quality education system to help prepare your little ones for the world of work.
More than three quarters of secondary school children attend a school that is rated ‘good or better’. For primary schools that figure stands at 86 per cent. Then, once they grow up, one of the UK’s top ten universities is on the doorstep in Exeter.
It’s a safe place to live
The safety of an area is also important. After all, no-one wants to purchase a property in a crime hotspot and be left worrying about becoming a victim. It’s telling that two of the top ten safest places to live in the UK, as outlined by the Telegraph, are in Devon.
Days out on your doorstep
Whether it’s the very best of the coast in the ‘English Riveira’, fossil-hunting along the Jurassic Coast or exploring the wild and wonderful landscape of Dartmoor National Park, Devon is packed full of great places to explore in your spare time. Buying a home here means that you’re guaranteed to never be bored.
