Who manages the Exe Estuary?

The Exe Estuary Management Partnership invites you to meet the people who take care of the Exe Estuary and share your views on the revision of zones of activities

If you are a local resident, business or recreational user and want to understand the different roles of organisations looking after the Exe, come along on 8th December, at 6pm (for a 6.30pm start) at the Coaver Club at County Hall in Exeter.

It will be your chance to ask questions and find out more about the different organisations caring for the Exe Estuary.

Colin Acton, Exeter City Council Waterways Manager, Harbour Authority

With the wide variety of activities that take place on the Exe, the Exe Estuary Management Partnership (EEMP) strives to work with local users and communities to strike a balance between the interests of different user groups and wildlife.

Voluntary and statutory measures are needed to keep this balance for two main reasons:

To keep users safe
To protect the environment

The South East Devon European Site Mitigation Strategy was commissioned by the Local Authorities to mitigate for the potential impacts of new housing development on three protected wildlife sites, including the Exe Estuary and Dawlish Warren.

The EEMP are carrying out work on behalf of SEDHRP, liaising with local users to review and consult on zones of activities and Codes of Conduct.

At this event, you will be able to get involved and comment on the development of the revised zones.

Building on our previous work with user groups, we look forward to your help to develop these measures. We welcome involvement from all different users of the Exe, including kitesurfers, PWC users, canoeists, dog walkers, crab tilers and bait diggers to name a few.
