Tesco Exeter Vale lend a helping hand to RD&E NHS Trust
The Tesco Extra store in Exeter Vale has granted a Christmas wish for the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital with a bumper £2,400 donation, as well as donating £1,000 worth of gift cards to help with refurbishments of the Bramble Ward’s overnight stay room.
The Bramble Ward is based at the Royal Devon and Exeter hospital that provide specialist and emergency services to residents and visitors in Exeter, East and Mid Devon. The hospital has its own trust which contributes to research and development to improve the quality, experience and effectiveness of healthcare.
Jo Evans, community champion at the Extra store in Exeter Vale Shopping Centre, said: “As Christmas is the time of giving the store team thought it would be great to give a little back to the community. The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital provides such vital care for residents in the Exeter area and we wanted to show our appreciation for all of their hard work!”
She continued: “We hope our donations will help to make the Bramble Ward, particularly its overnight stay room, a home away from home for the children and their families who are at the hospital.”
Karen Medcalf, Senior Nurse of Paediatrics, said: “The Bramble Ward has 46 dedicated beds for children, ranging from small babies to 16 year olds, so Tesco’s support is really appreciated. Their generous donations will help us to buy two chair beds so that a parent can stay overnight next to their child. The donation will also help us refurbish our overnight stay room, which is also used by parents of the children on the ward.”
