City bag their tenth away win of the season against Morecambe
A second-half brace by Jamie Cureton, and a strike from Arron Davies, gave Exeter City a club record tenth away win of the season with a 3-0 win at Morecambe.
A stodgy first-half was countered by a lively second period for City. Despite chances for Morcambe, it was the Grecians that found the net first through Jamie Cureton – netting his 17th of the season. Doherty – whose use of the football had been exceptional – threaded a brilliant ball for the striker to run onto. And Cureton needed no invitation to drill the ball low beyond the despairing Roche, to set City on their way.
With plenty of possession and incisiveness, City carved open an excellent second goal to settle any nerves. Mark Molesley’s fantastic hold-up play found Keohane in the right channel and his low cross was thrashed home by the arriving Davies, with minutes remaining.
City put the sheen on a brilliant performance in the dying second as Molesley and Cureton hooked up in the box – and the striker absolutely lashed a ball into the postage stamp to make it 3-0 to City.
Full-time: Morecambe 0 Exeter City 3
