Devon pupils visit Spain as part of innovating Erasmus+ project
Offwell Primary from Honiton, Redhills Primary in Exeter and the ACE MAT were successful in gaining Erasmus+ funding to participate in an Erasmus + project which will be led by CEIP Andrés García Soler from Lorca, Spain.
This project, therefore, includes these two Primary schools from Devon, the MAT, the Spanish school, Scuola Padre Pio from Altamura, Italy and Rigas Classical Gymnasium from Latvia as well as Nebrija University from Madrid.
As part of this project, Primary school students from Offwell Primary in Honiton and Redhills Primary in Exeter have stayed for a week in Spain and taken part in different classes at school, workshops about Tudor times, robotics, etc. as well as cultural trips to Murcia and Águilas.
Throughout this project, the ACE MAT which at this moment in time includes Shaldon Primary and Redhills Primary will carry out some research in cooperation with the of University of Sheffield and the University of Exeter. They want to assess together with Nebrija University from Madrid, to what extent Erasmus+ can improve children´s linguistic skills. They are also aiming to tap into the benefits of Erasmus+ when it comes to developing children´s sociocultural competence and awareness of the EU at such an early age.
In June 2017, children from Spain, Italy and Latvia will be coming over to the UK to participate in different activities with Redhills and Offwell pupils eg classes at school, workshops about Roman times, a visit to Exmouth, and so on.
