Happiness…..“Is a warm puppy” according to Lucy in Charles M.Schulz’s “Peanuts” cartoon strip.

Ken Dodd had a hit singing : ‘Happiness, happiness, the greatest gift that I possess, I thank the Lord I've been blessed with more than my share of happiness.’ One of the key verses in his song says: ‘ A wise old man told me one time. Happiness is a frame of mind. When you go to measuring my success. Don't count my money count my happiness.’

What‘s your definition of happiness? Is it a personal frame of mind, is it just being content with life or is it something much wider and deeper? Something worth exploring?

Exeter’s Palace Gate Centre located at the lower end of South Street (The Centre is part of South Street Baptist Church) will host a series of meetings on “The 8 Secrets of Happiness” based upon the book of the same name by Paul Griffiths and Martin Robinson, and presented by Simon Taylor one of the Palace Gate Centre Chaplains. The nine week course to be held in Palace Gate Centre’s lower lounge commences on Thursday 21 February at 7.30pm.

Each session will include video clips, stories and interactive discussion to explore the week’s theme and will include some practical ideas for people to try out to discover a greater happiness in our lives.

We can find a measure of happiness in our lives now, we can learn to be more content. I found the book “The 8 Secrets of Happiness” a helpful and straightforward approach to deepening our sense of wellbeing and look forward to exploring its themes with others”.
