Police appeal following multiple assaults in Exeter
Police have launched an appeal for victims to come forward following a mass assault in Exeter.
Police received reports of a disturbance in Exeter City Centre at around 3am on Saturday 22nd of April. Units attended and after a short chase, two men aged 30 and 27 were arrested on suspicion of affray; the 27-year-old has since been released with no further action to be taken against him.
PC Dave Walter from Heavitree Police Station said: “Following the arrest, we have managed to secure and review CCTV of the incident as part of our investigation.
“The footage shows one man committing a number of unprovoked assaults on numerous members of the public in the Fore Street and High Street area of Exeter City Centre; He also chased a taxi driver with a road sign during his mini-rampage.
“However, at this time we have been unable to trace or locate any of the victims of these assaults.
“The suspect is a large man with ginger hair, and was wearing a white t-shirt with “I AM GOD” written on the front. Later during the incident he removed this and was bare chested and he has a large tattoo on his back.
“We are appealing for witnesses to this incident, and want to hear from anyone who was a victim of the attack. The area was busy as many people were leaving the nightclubs in the area so we believe there are a number of witnesses who could come forward and help us with our enquiries.”
“If you were assaulted, or witnessed the incident, please call 101 or email 101@DC.police.uk quoting crime reference CR/029858/17.
