New street art improves look of community hub

Three former offenders have helped to brighten up a previously dull car park at a community hub in Exeter.

The group, who are all being supported by Dorset, Devon and Cornwall Community Rehabilitation Company (DDC CRC) as part of their sentences, have taken part in a street art course as they look to pick up new skills.

They are helping to transform the old car park at Wat Tyler House community hub on King William Street into a ‘paradise’ garden area and have spray painted pink flamingos onto the wall.

The group has also undertaken courses in horticulture and woodwork.

Laura Greenhill, Probation Services Officer at DDC CRC, said: “Courses like this are all about giving our service users an opportunity to pick up new employability skills so they can find suitable, sustainable work as well as giving them something positive to focus on. The group have done really well and the service users have gone onto complete other courses as they look to better themselves.”
