CEDA Charity launch new Mini Bus
Members of Devon based disability charity CEDA gathered at the charities base in Exeter to celebrate the arrival of their new accessible minibus. CEDA users, charity supporters, fundraisers and members of the staff team gathered to witness the parents of former CEDA user Greg Hurford cut the ribbon to mark the official launch of the new minibus. CEDA CEO Renata Colley said: “We are all thrilled with the new minibus – it’s going to make enabling our users to access our many services easier and more reliable. It will give us much more freedom.”
The new minibus has been made possible thanks to the generous support of many benefactors including money donated by the Wolfson Trust, Chiefs charity the Exeter Foundation and the legacy of former CEDA user Greg Hurford, who was extremely fond of being out and about on accessible transport. “Greg was key in helping us establish one of our most popular services, being out and about within the community. He would have loved to see this new bus on the road, opening up so many opportunities to disabled people.” Renata says.
The launch was attended by the parents of Greg who paid tribute in a moving memorial to their son as they unveiled the name of the bus ‘Greg’. Trustees of CEDA and the Exeter Foundation were also in attendance. The charity is now gearing up to celebrate their 30th anniversary in 2018 and are waiting for delivery of another accessible vehicle made possible by a grant awarded by the Department of Transport.
