Charity bike sale
A second-hand bike sale is set to raise funds for Rainbow Living, thanks to the fantastic efforts of a supporter of the Exeter-based charity.
On Saturday 18th November, Curly Wright will be selling refurbished bikes and donating all proceeds from the sale of these bikes to Rainbow Living.
Following a great response to his plea for donations of unwanted and unused bikes, Curly has spent months refurbishing and updating the donated bikes; he has stripped bikes down where needed, repairing and rebuilding them, as well as undertaking safety checks and ensuring they are road worthy.
Curly now has around 30 refurbished bikes ready to sell, and on Saturday 18th November, from 9am-4pm, he will be in the car park of Tuckers Country Store, Commercial Road, Crediton with a selection of bikes available to buy, including children’s, adults, racers and mountain bikes, priced from £10-£100. People will also be able to donate any unwanted bikes on the day.
All proceeds from the sale of these bikes will go towards Rainbow Living, continuing to support the charity’s work to provide specially adapted accommodation so adults with learning disability can live as independently as possible in supported living.
Curly said: “I’d like to say a big thank you to Tuckers in Crediton, and in particular to the general manager Richard who kindly offered me use of the car park so I can sell the bikes; thanks also to all the generous individuals who donated their unwanted and unused bikes – support like this is what makes these things possible. I’ve always been involved in charitable work and strongly support Rainbow Living and their work in helping local young adults with learning disabilities; I know every single penny raised from selling these bikes will go straight back into their work, and it’s a pleasure to support them in this way.”
Ruth Airdrie from Rainbow Living commented: “As a small volunteer-run charity we are dependent on events like this to raise funds, and we are very grateful to Curly for undertaking this fundraising event for us and really appreciate the time he has taken to secure donations of bikes and refurbish them – thank you Curly!”
