After being successful in receiving Proceeds of Crime Act funds I'm looking at holding free power tool forensic security marking on Mon 16th July from 8am onwards at Jewson in Sowton.

The reason i'm doing this is after the high number of reports of power tools being stolen around Exeter and the surrounding areas. A lot of these tools are high value and cost the owners a lot of money to replace.

I'll be doing this marking with our Crime Prevention officer. After a bit of research it was decided that Jewson's has a high foot fall from trade people who we're trying to target. This is also open to any local authorities and companies.

We've got around 100 SelectaDNA kits so it'll be on a first come basis. Each kit marks around 50 items. They come with deterrent signs which you can put on your tools and work vans. If a theft does occur then it will help us to get the tools back to the righful owner.

If we have any left we'll be looking at holding a further event possibly outside Toolstation, Marsh Barton.
