Torbay Art Show creates a picture perfect weekend

The brand new Torbay Art Show, which took place over the weekend of 13th and 14th October, at Torquay Boys’ Grammar School, was a phenomenal success, achieving all its goals as a fundraising event for the school and an artistic highlight for the Bay.

Over 1,000 people visited the event with overwhelmingly positive feedback.  “Brilliant exhibition” “Great variety” “High standard” “Beautifully presented” “Looking forward to next year!” were just some of the comments received over the duration of the show.

Over 70 artists from across the UK, filled the transformed Cavanna Centenary Hall, with a stunning range of artworks including paintings, ceramics, sculptures and much more.   Alongside the professionals were the exam pieces from the GCSE, A-Level and IB students of Torquay Boys’ Grammar School, which created much interest and positive feedback.

Torbay Art Show was delighted to be able to display the original works of the late Robert Lenkiewicz’s, thanks to the generosity of his son Rueben, who also entertained the public with his classical guitar.  Thanks also go to Harry Hill for donating his original painting of World Darts Champion Andy “The Viking” Fordham, and Our Glass for donating a stunning glass sculpture, both of which were part of a Silent Auction.  Thanks also to Tony Blackmore who created a unique work of art “Draw, Score, Fold and Form” especially for this event.

This event exists due to the support of some prominent local businesses, including main sponsor Cavanna Homes, Tolchards, St. David’s Equine and Artizan Gallery.  We would like to extend our thanks to all the sponsors who have embraced our idea and supported us with their generous investments.  Thanks also go to the numerous companies that donated to the raffle.
