Run under the stars at the National Trust’s Night Run in South Devon

If running is a New Year’s resolution this year, bring your family and friends and join us for the National Trust’s Night Run on Saturday 26 January at East Soar Farm, near Salcombe.

The ancient farmland and woodlands are shrouded in mystery so experiencing them at night will add a whole new dimension to your running experience.

There are two options to suit all runners. The Explorer route is 2 km and starts at 4.30pm and the Adventurer route is 9 km and starts at 5.30pm. Registration for both routes starts at 4pm.

The routes are totally traffic-free, mostly on paths and trails and if you'd rather walk than run, you're more than welcome. If you’re after an adventure with the family go on the Explorer route, which is good for little legs and new runners. The Adventurer route will put you through your paces if you're a seasoned runner, but is also fun if you want to take your time and walk some of the way. 

Rosie Wright from the South Devon Ranger team commented ‘Taking part in our Night Run is a great way to get a little fitter during the winter months at the same time as helping us care for this stretch of coast which provides an important home to lots of different wildlife including insects, mammals and birds that you may hear as you run.’

The National Trust is working with Cotswold Outdoor to offer its programme of Night Runs for the fifth year running. East Soar Farm is one of a number of National Trust places taking part. With several new places entering the fold for 2018/19, this event will build on the excitement of 2017/18, which saw more than 5,000 people taking part across the country.
