Guardian Homecare helps those unemployed and laid-off due to COVID-19 back to work
AN EXETER care agency is offering to take-on those unemployed and looking for work due to business closures following the Coronavirus crisis and to re-train them as qualified home carers (April 2020).
Guardian Homecare needs hundreds of new staff to help boost its teams, so it can shield the vulnerable and elderly it looks after and keep them safely at home.
Catherine Porter, Manager for the service provider, which operates in the Exeter and surrounding areas, says: “We’re currently coping very well, and our teams are fulfilling their roles as normal. However, as frontline care staff, we anticipate that we will need more carers to help us soon, as the restrictions continue, the virus potentially spreads further, and we have more cases in south Devon.
“Our priority is to keep those who are in the high risk category safely at home and to provide them with all the necessary services they need to maintain their physical and mental health. By doing this, we’re shielding them, as instructed by the Government, and, also, protecting the NHS’s resources, as it needs to be focused on caring for those with the virus.
“Anyone who has been laid-off, is redundant or was self-employed and can no longer work due to the recent restrictions, we urgently need to hear from you. We need honest, reliable and kind-hearted individuals who may have been in customer-facing roles in. for example, hotels, restaurants, hairdressers and beauticians. We’re offering full-time, part-time and flexible contracts, as well as full, professional training.
“Our current team is highly motivated and provides excellent standards of care to our service users. Anyone who is able to join us would be making a real difference to the lives of those we care for at home, while also supporting the NHS by keeping our service users safe.
“By becoming a home carer in your local community, you will be doing your bit to help with the Coronavirus crisis and, if you need the work, you will also be able to support your family financially during this time.”
Guardian Homecare is looking for committed individuals, who have excellent communication skills and can demonstrate a genuine care for others.
“Being reliable is key to this role, as you will be looking after the needs of vulnerable adults. Applicants also need to be even-tempered and caring and must enjoy making a positive difference to people’s lives. Being patient, able to cope with change and having the ability to display empathy and warmth are also essential.”
