Ideas in Exeter to change the world

An exciting event is happening on 12 April 2013. The second TEDxExeter conference featuring well-known speakers, performance artists and film will explore the theme "Living the Questions".

TEDx is a programme of local, self-organised events made possible by local organisers who want to engage their communities. TEDxExeter is an independently organised event, licensed by TED. There have been more than 6,400 TEDx events globally since the programme was launched in 2009.

The day conference will feature 18 local, nationally and internationally renowned speakers including Jonathon Porritt, sustainable development campaigner; Patrick Holden, pioneer of the sustainable food movement; Stewart Wallis, executive director of the New Economics Foundation; Jo Royle, ocean skipper, explorer and marine conservationist; Pam Warhurst, local food campaigner; Camilla Hampshire, Director of Exeter’s award winning RAMM; Carrie Clarke, Occupational Therapist working with patients who have dementia at Exeter’s Franklyn Hospital; Hazel Stutleley from the Connecting Communities programme at the Peninsula Medical School; Declan Bates, Professor of Biological Systems Engineering from Exeter University; Martha Wilkinson from the Devon Community Foundation; Alberto Arribas form the Met Office; and Peter Owen-Jones, author, BBC presenter and Anglican priest. The day will also feature screened TED talks and performances from the TR14ers, a dance group from Cambourne, singer-songwriter Rebecca Maze and Matt Harvey, writer, poet, enemy of all that’s difficult and upsetting!

Many people have been introduced to TED through watching TEDTalks online, and there has been a lot of enthusiasm for live TEDx events in Exeter.
