Visit Exeter launches Virtual Christmas Market
Visit Exeter have launched their first ever Virtual Christmas Market.
The aim of the initiative is to promote local businesses online in the run up to Christmas, during England’s second national lockdown.
“Traditionally, this is the busiest time of the year for many of the businesses taking part, so that’s why it’s so important for people to support the Virtual Christmas Market during these difficult times,” said Cllr Ollie Pearson, Lead Councillor for City Centre and Corporate Services.
Included on the website are links to the online shops of Exeter retailers, so residents can still support their local independents while they are closed. There’s also information on businesses who have remained open for essential shopping and for click and collect services, as well as food & drink businesses who are offering takeaway services during the lockdown.
The website also includes ways in which people can support local charities this Christmas, as well as cultural institutions in the city, who have had to close for the majority of the year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
There are ideas and inspiration for Christmas gift experiences, plus a whole host of festive entertainment which can be enjoyed from the safety and comfort of your own home, from live music to craft and cookery workshops. There will also be a series of blogs with ideas on enjoying the run up to Christmas at home this year, including festive recipes, ideas for crafting Christmas decorations at home, DIY and eco-friendly Christmas gift ideas, and inspiration for a Christmas Eve box.
