Exeter charity welcomes support from Amazon
An Exeter charity that provides support for homeless or vulnerably housed people has received a donation of £1,000 from the Amazon delivery station team in Exeter to help it continue to support the local community.
St Petrock’s, a charity that is currently marking its 25th anniversary of supporting the Exeter community, received the donation as part Amazon’s programme to support the communities around its operating locations across the UK.
For 25 years, St Petrock’s has been the first point of contact for people who are homeless, or vulnerably housed, in Exeter and surrounding areas. The charity’s centre in Cathedral Yard is the heart of its services and the gateway to specialist service providers.
St Petrock’s offers its own accommodation routes in addition to basic survival services, advice and support, all under one roof.
The donation will be used to help fund the delivery of the charity’s key homelessness services during COVID-19. These include the survival services that support 40+ vulnerable people through food deliveries to those in temporary emergency accommodation.
The mental health sessions run by a Clinical Psychologist for St Petrock’s will also benefit from the donation, due to a greater need for these sessions during lockdown.
Amazon Exeter Area Manager Adam Harding said: “St Petrock’s is doing vital work in our community to help those most in need and we wanted to support their efforts with this local donation. The services offered by the charity’s staff and volunteers have never been more important and I’d like to thank them for everything they’re doing for our community during these challenging times.”

Community donations are one of a number of ways in which Amazon is supporting communities across the UK during COVID-19.
Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering more than three and a half million healthy breakfasts to families around the UK.

Amazon Logistics is helping independent local delivery companies to grow their businesses and adds capacity and flexibility to Amazon’s delivery network to meet increasing customer demand.
Amazon has created more than 90 permanent jobs at the delivery station in Exeter and works with around 15 independent delivery companies with more than 350 drivers to provide the fast and reliable delivery Amazon customers love and trust. Packages are shipped to the delivery station from Amazon fulfilment and sortation centres and loaded onto vehicles to get delivered to customers.
