McDonald’s Marsh Barton Restaurant set to reopen
Following significant investment from local franchisee, David Shawyer, McDonald’s in Stone Lane Retail Park on Marsh Barton Road is set to reopen on 3rd February 2022 after a major refurbishment, which has brought exciting new features to the restaurant. The official re-opening will be attended by the Lord Mayor of Exeter, Councillor Trish Oliver, to officiate with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The new restaurant will boast all the latest innovations from McDonald’s, including new, more efficient, soft drinks machines and a new staff room with a new redesigned kitchen for the crew to enjoy. Enhancing the restaurant experience for customers, the number of self-order kiosks will also increase, making nutritional information more accessible so customers can make informed food choices.
Outside the restaurant, customers will be able to order from a choice of two side-by-side drive thru lanes with outdoor digital menu boards. Plus, the outdoor patio has been resurfaced and more outside seating has been added, meaning over 50 customers can now sit outside.
McDonald’s franchisee David Shawyer, who owns and operates the restaurant, said: “We are delighted to be re-opening the McDonald’s restaurant in Marsh Barton and can’t wait to welcome our local customers back through the doors. We’re really looking forward to seeing their reaction to the updated services on offer. People are at the heart of our business, and we aim to ensure that the experience we offer our customers is of the highest quality possible.”
On top of his investment in this refurbishment, David will also generously be donating £1 for every transaction on opening day to the Lord Mayor of Exeter, Councillor Trish Oliver’s charity ‘Inclusive Exeter’. The charity works with grassroots groups, to run a range of projects for the benefit of the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities in the surrounding area.
Kate Hannan, Director of Inclusive Exeter said: “We want to congratulate the team on the re-opening of McDonald's and thank them very much for supporting Inclusive Exeter as the Lord Mayor's Charity 2021/2022. We are very grateful for this donation and can assure the staff and customers of McDonald's that we will put it to good use as we strive to give people from Exeter's minoritised communities an equal voice with the mainstream”.
As well as the new instore features, the My McDonald’s App will be available to use in the Marsh Barton restaurant to enhance the experience. The app’s Click & Serve feature allows customers to order and pay contact-free for their meal ahead of time and collect it either by using the Drive-Thru, picking-up at the counter or parking up for a delivery. The app simply sends a notification to the kitchen as soon as customers are within 100m of the restaurant, meaning all orders are prepared fresh on arrival.
For those dining in and using the app, the nationwide introduction of Table Markers means customers can choose to find a table, order through their phone and have their food delivered straight to where they’re sat. The app also allows customers to save their favourite orders and customise burgers, as well as provide access to exclusive offers including weekly Monday deals and McCafé loyalty points.
