The Recycled Candle Company prides itself on its green credentials – but one customer has taken things a step further!

Founders Richard Hills-Ingyon and Sargon Latchin recently received an email from Susan Morris from Surrey. Susan is a long-time fan of the eco-business which gives customers branded brown paper carrier bags for their purchases. But rather than put her bag into the recycling bin, instead Susan opted to ‘reuse’ hers.

In her email, she said: "I thought it might amuse and entertain you to know that just about now, every year for the past five years or so, one of your brown paper carrier bags has had a starring role. I cut one of the larger sides and the base away, leaving one wide flat side and the two narrow sides.

“Tipped over, this makes a sort of low wide bridge. Perfect for putting over your Christmas cake in the oven at that critical stage to stop it browning too much!. The paper is so wonderfully sturdy, the same one has lasted all this time. Getting it out each year is a bit like getting the Christmas decorations out of the loft. So even your bags are to your recycling credit."

Richard and Sargon were tickled pink with the story, and asked Susan if she had any photos. She sent some ‘freshly baked photos of said paper bag in action’! “You can see how it is honourably battle-scarred after several years of use,” Susan pointed out.

A great example of thinking outside the box – or bag!
