Jurassic Fibre supports Hospiscare with Christmas trees recycling scheme
Award-winning ultra-fast broadband provider, Jurassic Fibre, has today announced that they have pledged their support once again to Hospiscare this Christmas.
The Exeter-based telecoms company, who are on a mission to deliver their full fibre-to-the premises broadband to 500,000 homes and businesses in the South West, will be supporting Hospiscare’s Christmas Tree Recycling fundraiser, for the second year in a row, with a team of volunteers.
The yearly fundraiser aims to collect unwanted Christmas trees from residents in Exeter, Mid and East Devon to recycle in exchange for a donation to Hospiscare.
Hospiscare is partnering with Just Helping, a UK charity that inspires and supports people, businesses and organisations to volunteer, to recruit volunteers for the festive fundraiser. ‘Just Helping’ will work alongside Jurassic Fibre to log registrations, plan routes, and help fulfil Christmas tree pick-ups.
Last year, Jurassic Fibre helped Hospiscare to collect 1,211 trees across Exeter, Mid and East Devon thanks to a team of 50 volunteers, raising over £16,000 for the local hospice charity.
Hospiscare supports more than 2,500 adults diagnosed with life-limiting illnesses every year across Exeter, Mid and East Devon. For 40 years the charity has provided support at home, a specialist palliative care ward, out-patients clinics, and supportive therapies to those in need.

“2022 has been challenging for many facing the hardships of the cost of living crisis, which is why we’re committed to giving something back this Christmas. We are also pleased to help this initiative to encourage people to do their bit for the environment, by recycling their tree after Christmas.”

Laura Robertson, Fundraising Projects Manager for Hospiscare, said: “Last year, we had 50 amazing volunteers helping us to collect more than 1000 real Christmas trees across Exeter and East Devon, which raised over £16,000 for Hospiscare.
“This initiative simply wouldn’t be possible without the generous support from our local community and businesses like Jurassic Fibre donating their time and invaluable services. The money raised from our tree collection campaign will help us support more local patients and families living with terminal illness, who need us more than ever in the lead up to Christmas.”
Jurassic Fibre’s support for Hospiscare is part of the broadband company’s wider commitment to supporting regional charities and initiatives which benefit people within the local communities.
The internet service provider has so far raised a total of £1,200 for charities based in their network roll-out areas of Devon, Dorset, Cornwall and Somerset. Charities based in Devon which have benefited from Jurassic Fibre’s donations include the Alice Cross Centre and Open Door in Exmouth as well as Encompass South West, Little Willow's Wish Charity and Don’t Just Bin It, all based in North Devon. From Somerset, the charities included in the company’s donation include the food banks in Taunton, Bridgwater and Glastonbury.
Dorset-based initiatives supported by Jurassic’s Christmas charity donations include the Surviving Winter 2022/23 appeal, run by the Dorset Community Foundation and the Portland and Sherborne Food Banks. In Cornwall, Jurassic Fibre’s donations will go towards supporting the Bude Warm Rooms, run by Bude Council, to support vulnerable people in the local areas to provide a safe environment for people to socialise and find support.
Jurassic Fibre have also pledged to match the total amount that their employees have raised across the business for Movember, which currently stands at £700.
As one of the fastest growing alt-nets in the country, Jurassic Fibre recently celebrated surpassing 100,000 premises connected through their broadband service in the South West. As of this year, the company has provided ultrafast internet to homes and businesses in 30 towns and villages in Devon, Somerset, Cornwall and Dorset, including Bude, Exmouth, Sidmouth, Yeovil, Bridgwater, Teignmouth, Honiton and Crediton.
