What You need to build the Perfect Loft Attic
When you are turning an attic into a loft, there are a few elements that you need to think of primarily, if you want it to be a success. The first thing is light, the second is colours and the third furniture. Here are a few considerations that you should keep in mind when planning to turn your attic into a loft.
Let There be Light
Normally, the size of the loft will be the most important issue that you will have to deal with. A lack of natural light will just render the apartment even smaller than it really is. That is why you need to entertain the idea of adding a flat or pitched roof window by Sunlux, in order to let some more sun rays inside. In one action, you will have enlarged the space visually. The moment you enter your new living space through your loft ladder, you will be welcomed by natural light, which will bring life to the room.
This doesn't mean that you can't make this loft a love nest. You can still play with the light by including a variety of lamps. Candle light is also a nice option when the night comes. However, during the day, this room needs to be flooded with sunlight. Otherwise you probably won't find yourself heading upstairs very often in the daytime.
Choose Colours Carefully
In many cases, an attic features wooden beams. There are various ways to treat them, which will impact the choice of colors that you will make for everything else. If what you want is a warm look, and you keep the wood its natural dark colour, you will definitely want to go light on all the walls, with a touch of darker tones, here and there, through the use of accessories or paintings. It doesn't mean that you should paint all the walls white, though. Nude warm colours are often the best solution to compliment the wood found inside the room.
By using the colour of the walls as a base, you can then select a wallpaper for one or two of the smaller wall surfaces. You can either go romantic or bohemian, if this is the place you want to get away to, whenever you need to feel good by yourself. Otherwise, rustic can be a great choice, especially if this apartment is to be lived on a daily basis.
Furniture and Accessories
In an attic, the last thing you want is to create a crowded feeling. However, you will need storage space. And so, furniture with many drawers is a must. They should blend in the décor instead of sticking out. You will want to keep accessories at their minimum. Leave as little as possible on top of furniture as well. Whatever you choose to place in this environment should definitely attract the eye as an important piece of the loft. Choose accessories that mean something to you instead of objects that are meant to decorate. An attic is a location of the house that you want to be looking and feeling as authentic as possible.
