Amid the exhaustion epidemic uncovered by ProPlus®, nootropic energy drink brand SUPE analysed over 2000 keywords related to tiredness and boosting energy, including terms like ‘why am I so tired’, ‘low energy’, and ‘energy drink’ to identify which cities in the UK are the most tired.

Exeter stands out as the city with among the highest search volumes for strategies to combat fatigue, averaging 370 searches per day.

Interestingly, research revealed that July emerges as the month with the highest surge in search volume. A staggering 1.6 million searches were related to tiredness and energy, 28% higher than the monthly average, indicating a significant seasonal influence on energy levels and general tiredness. This could be due to hotter weather causing dehydration, poorer sleep quality and exhaustion.

Joshua Daniels, co-founder of SUPE, reflected on the findings, stating, "The revelation of the UK's top 10 most tired cities has illuminated the extensive challenge of daily exhaustion impacting many of us. Lincoln, Chelmsford, and Exeter lead this list, demonstrating how tiredness is not just a personal issue but one that affects communities at large. Interestingly, the spike in searches for tiredness during July suggests a correlation with hot weather, highlighting the significance of acknowledging how seasonal variations affect our well-being. The 2023 study by Pro Plus, which found that 40% of people turn to fizzy drinks for a quick energy boost, further emphasises the need for a comprehensive approach to managing our energy and well-being."

Searches related to tiredness may see an increase due to illnesses highlighting the importance of consulting a GP if fatigue continues. Tiredness can stem from a multitude of factors, including lifestyle choices, diet, and exercise habits. It's essential for the public to be armed with the necessary knowledge and resources to enhance their motivation and overall quality of life.
