Persimmon Homes South West donates £1,000 to RD&E Hospital’s ‘Project Play’
The Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital has received a cheque for £1,000, after being announced as one of Persimmon Homes South West’s Community Champions.
The five-star housebuilder’s donation will support the Hospital’s ‘Project Play’ fundraising initiative, improving the waiting areas of their Medical Imaging Department for paediatric patients, their families, and everybody who visits.
The money will go towards transforming waiting areas with colour, toys, and other interactive activities representing all of the Hospital’s young patients and the disabilities they may live with. These improvements will allow them to interact and occupy their own minds while they wait.
The Community Champions scheme by Persimmon Homes South West donates £24,000 each year to community organisations and good causes in the areas it develops.
Rachael Bradford, Trainee Sonographer & Co-Team Captain of Project Play at The Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, thanked Persimmon for the donation and commented:
“Project Play’s big idea is to bring colour, fun, and imagination to the RDUH medical imaging waiting rooms. Research has demonstrated how play is vital in the hospital setting to reduce stress and anxiety for children and their families.
“This donation from Persimmon homes will enable us to bring to life our explorers themed wall murals and install the first of these in our main waiting room, providing a distraction and designated area for patients and families to play while they wait.”
Stacey Harris, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes South West, commented: “Our Community Champions scheme is all about supporting the areas we operate in, and the community champions who go above and beyond to support local causes.
“As a prominent housebuilder in Exeter with developments such Ashworth Place, Cherrywood Grange, and Galileo our mission at Persimmon is to leave a positive and lasting legacy in the communities where we build.
“The work that Rachael, Lizzie, and the Project Play team do to improve the experiences of patients and children at the Hospital is heartwarming, so we are delighted to support their ongoing fundraising.”
Persimmon currently has three active developments in and near Exeter. Quality new homes are available at the sites with prices ranging from £229,995 to £525,000.
