A local youth football club has received a £1,000 donation from one of the leading developers behind the Cranbrook expansion scheme.

Persimmon Homes South West handed over the cheque to Cranbrook United Youth FC at its playing fields, with the funds going towards new kits for players, which will be emblazoned with the company’s logo.

Since its formation in 2015, the club has grown into one of the largest club in the area, having age groups from Under 6s through to its Men’s team.

Persimmon currently has high-quality properties for sale at two sites in the area – two and three-bed homes are available for purchase from £249,995 at Cherrywood Grange in Tithebarn and Galileo at Cranbrook, with five-bed properties also for sale at the former.

The five-star, Exeter-based developer donates £700,000 each year to good causes and much-valued organisations across Britain. Recent local recipients include Broadclyst FC, Cranbrook Town Council, Hospiscare, and the English Riviera Airshow.

Commenting, Persimmon Homes South West Sales Director Stacey Harris, said: “As a major developer in Cranbrook, we had no hesitation in supporting a club like the Crannies.

“Persimmon regularly uses its Community Champions scheme to give a financial boost to local grassroots club like Cranbrook United and we are pleased to be in a position to help.

“We wish them all the best for next year’s campaign, in which they will don a new kit with our logo on it.”

Ashley Burrell-Squires – Club Secretary for Cranbrook United FC – added: “We’re very grateful to Persimmon for their kind donation and we look forward to playing in the new kits they have funded.

“Our players love playing for the Crannies and I know all the coaches and parents are proud to see them each time they play, becoming better with every match while playing the sport they love.”
