Isca Ensemble South West present a special concert for Hospiscare

The very popular Isca Ensemble South West will be presenting a very special concert in Exeter Cathedral on Saturday 19th October at 7.30pm.

This fine orchestra conducted by Roger Hendy comprising of leading players from the Southwest, continues to receive high critical acclaim for its performances which feature International soloists.

Roger has been a leading conductor of orchestras in the Southwest, France and Germany for many years.

On this occasion, the orchestra will be joined by the renowned international cellist Kacper Nowak from Poland who will be performing Dvorak’s wonderful Cello Concerto.

Kacper has been described as  "a most gifted young cellist with exceptional technical attributes and a very natural and unmannered approach to music."

Born in Poland, Kacper was in close contact with music from an early age. His artistic education began in Poznań with Danuta Taczanowska, later he studied in Brussels, Cologne and Antwerp. Kacper has won many awards at international competitions, such as the Johannes Brahms Competition in Austria, the International Madrid Competition and the International Music Competition in Vienna.

He has performed in the most renowned concert halls in Europe and around the world.

The concert also features Verdi’s popular overture ‘The Force of Destiny’ to be followed by the spectacular Symphonie Fantastique by Hector Berlioz.

For Berlioz music was the dramatic expression of an emotional experience, an imitation of life itself.

The motto was "Direct reaction to feelings" as stated by the composer. His music abounds in startling juxtapositions of contrasting ideas and in exaggerations sometimes humorous and at other times dramatic.

The symphony is a wonderful showpiece for an orchestra.

This is concert not to be missed. There will be retiring collection for Hospiscare.
