TUI inspires Exeter Beaver Scout Group at Airport Visit

Fourteen Beaver Scouts from 1st Cranbrook Beavers visited Exeter Airport for a behind the scenes look at some of the airport's most exciting operations and day-to-day activities.

Hosted by TUI, the visit took the Scout’s learning to new heights as they worked towards earning their Air Activities Stage 1 Badge.

TUI Crew Relations Manager Nicola Bendall hosted the Beaver Scout’s trip alongside Exeter Airport where the group was introduced to the basics of aviation through learning and activities.

“We had such a fun evening with the Beaver Scouts, learning about some of the key things that happen at the airport and on an aircraft. The group was fascinated by the airport tour, and particularly loved seeing how the baggage scanners worked and visiting the fire department”, said Nicola.

She added: “We love being able to teach young people about aviation and what’s involved in our role as cabin crew because we hope that it might just inspire our next generation of flyers. Having a basic understanding of aviation is also an important skill which children can take with them throughout school and into early adulthood”.

To earn their Air Activities Stage 1 Badge, the Beaver Scouts worked with Nicola and the Exeter airport team to learn about a TUI plane, speak to someone who has flown in an aircraft, make a plane out of paper and learn how to spell their name using the phonetic alphabet.

Beaver Scout group leader Joanna Bennet added: “Our Scout group had an absolutely wonderful time visiting Exter Airport with TUI. All of the children left with the biggest smiles on their faces and were so excited to learn about the behind the scenes of an airport. Thanks to TUI and Exter Airport we are delighted that all of our Beaver Scouts have earned their Air Activities Stage 1 Badge.”
