30 years in Exeter: Skipton Building Society reaffirms commitment with branch transformation

Skipton Building Society is celebrating 30 successful years in Exeter with the relaunch of its branch following a major refurbishment. Located at the heart of the city, Skipton has remained a trusted financial provider, helping members achieve their financial goals.

“We’ve seen many changes over the past 30 years, but our commitment to Exeter remains as strong as ever,” says Branch Manager Emma Smith. “We’re proud to continue serving the community and helping people reach their financial milestones.”

At a time when many financial institutions are closing branches, Skipton has invested in a full branch transformation, reinforcing its long-term dedication to Exeter. The refreshed space features modern transaction counters, private consultation offices, and a welcoming waiting area for customers.

Sustainability was a key focus of the renovation, with the installation of LED lighting, energy-efficient heating, and improved insulation, all contributing to Skipton’s journey toward net zero. While the branch was temporarily closed for 10 days in October 2024, most work was completed outside business hours to minimise disruption.

To mark the reopening, Branch Manager Emma Smith and InExeter CEO Nicola Wheeler led a ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside a special guest Harry Burfitt - one of Exeter’s longest-standing Skipton members at 93 years old.

Skipton invites the Exeter community to visit the newly transformed branch and experience the enhanced facilities designed to support their financial future.
