Young Cranbrook residents invited to have their say

East Devon District Council are inviting all young residents of Cranbrook to choose the new play equipment for Cranbrook’s first play area.

The finished open space, which should include a play area for children of early school age, a play area for older children and a multi use games area designed for young people up to the age of 18, provides a wonderful opportunity for the community to have a real say in how their now town is shaping up.

Cllr Iain Chubb, East Devon District Council Portfolio Holder for Environment said: “There is a lovely community spirit at Cranbrook already, residents are helping each other with the moving in experience, sharing knowledge and generally being open warm and friendly.

"It is wonderful to be able to include the young Cranbrook residents in the design processes for their play space, helping to give them a sense of ownership over their new environment.”

East Devon officers previously met with over 30 school children from the Clyst Honiton Primary School before they moved to St Martin’s at Cranbrook, and find out what sort of play space they wanted and how they linked to play.

The answers the children gave were collated and now a series of proposals are on the table for the children and young people to choose from.

Anyone under 18 years old and living in Cranbrook can take part in this consultation.

The Pre-school Group, held at Cranbrook St Martin’s Primary School, are being invited to have their say on Thursday 20 June and those attending St Martin’s can vote during their assembly on Friday 21 June.

For everyone else there is a drop-in voting session at Cranbrook St Martin’s Primary School from 4-6pm on Thursday 20 June. Only those aged under 18 can vote but others are welcome to come and have a look if they wish.
