Programme:

Janacek Sinfonietta (First movement)

Mozart Concerto for two pianos in Eb, K.365

Mahler Symphony No.2 in C minor, "Resurrection" with the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus
Soloists: Cheryle Enever soprano and Jeanette Ager contralto

The Amadeus Orchestra return to Exeter Cathedral with the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus for a performance of Mahler's epic second symphony, subtitled "Resurrection". The piece calls for over 100 instrumentalists, large choir and two soloists.

By contrast, Mozart's subtle and delicate concerto for two pianos will provide a refreshing sorbet after Janacek's grandiose opening: the short first movement of his Sinfonietta.

Philip Mackenzie is currently Principal Conductor of the Amadeus Orchestra, Principal Guest Conductor of the Crimean State Symphony Orchestra and Principal Conductor of the Mozart Symphony Orchestra. He has worked with Manchester Camerata, Manchester Concert Orchestra, Bath Philharmonia, the Pardubice Chamber Orchestra, Lontano and the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus. Philip has also made numerous TV and radio broadcasts by in the UK and worldwide.

A retiring collection will be taken in aid of the organ restoration fund.
