The ‘Great West’ can lead the world in efforts to tackle climate change.

That is the view of climate change researchers who say the region is now home to more expertise in this field than anywhere on the planet.

Exhausted working parents spend almost £13,000 a year in a bid to free up time to relax, new research has revealed.

Desperate Brits have spent an average of £249 forking out for cleaners, ironing services, food deliveries and taxis in a bid just to free up time. Devon County Council aims to be carbon neutral by 2030

Ambitious targets for Devon County Council to be carbon neutral by 2030 have been agreed by the authority’s Cabinet today (Wednesday 9 October).

Councillors agreed to revise the authority’s energy and carbon strategy in response to the climate emergency.

The County Council’s carbon footprint has already fallen by almost 40% since 2012/13 – and it is likely to reach the authority’s original target of a 50% reduction next year, nine years earlier than planned.

Citizen Advice Exeter Healthwatch Champion, Caroline Harris, has been raising awareness of mental health issues faced in Devon for World Mental Health Day, which takes place on Thursday 10 October.

16% of people that Healthwatch Champions from Citizens Advice Devon worked with said they had a mental health disability. The main issue that people needed support with was the quality of diagnosis, care or treatment. Other main issues of support were around the Mental Health Act and mental health support planning.

Flamingos at the Oakland Zoo are at their flamboyant best thanks to scientists at the University of Exeter.

Keepers at the Oakland Zoo in California wanted to know more about the activity of their flamingos because they seemed quiet and didn’t appear to be venturing into their pool very often.
