Inspired by W.H. Auden’s poem ‘September 1 1939’, Into The Light is the result of an intensive 8 day residency by NYC – Northcott Young Company. Addressing themes such as intolerance, justice and the importance of independent thought, the Young Company will create an ambitious new piece of theatre which explores how the ideas behind Auden’s poem speak to them as young people in the twenty-first century.

The League of Gentlemen return to the stage for their first UK tour in over 12 years with their brand new live show ‘The League of Gentlemen Live Again!’ See BAFTA Award winning comedy legends Reece Shearsmith, Steve Pemberton, Mark Gatiss and Jeremy Dyson bring their dark and unhinged fictional village of Royston Vasey to theatres and arenas across the country.

The critically acclaimed black comedy which originally ran from 1999 – 2002 on BBC Two, returned to the screen last Christmas with three special episodes to celebrate 20 years since the show began.

The formal opening of a state-of-the art £3 million ‘Advanced Engineering Centre’ - at Exeter College - a UK leading centre of excellence for robotics and virtual welding – has taken place.

The next generation of leaders in engineering are being inspired at the centre, a 780 square metre extension to the Exeter College Technology Centre on the edge of Exeter.

Gunning for glory! Newton Abbot students fired up for Royal Navy Field Gun Challenge

A driven team of students from South Devon University Technical College have been pushing all the boundaries to take part in the prestigious Royal Navy Junior Leaders’ Field Gun Challenge. The annual contest is led by the Royal Navy and sees teams of 16-24 year olds race against each other to assemble and manoeuvre a Field Gun, used in historical warfare.

In glorious weather, young people from across Devon and Cornwall shone brightest at the South West Rotary Youth Games at Dawlish on Saturday 7 July.

Around 800 participants aged 8-18 represented their local area across 13 sports at the South Devon venue whilst hundreds of other families enjoyed a packed day of activities including food stalls, fun runs, archery, dodgeball, swimming and local bands all brought to a brilliant climax by watching England on the giant screen qualify for the World Cup semi-finals.

Families for Children are delighted to announce that we have been awarded of one of the prestigious Charity Governance Awards for 2018.

Families for Children were chosen from over 20 charities from across the UK each nominated to receive one of seven awards and a £5,000 unrestricted grant. All the shortlisted charities represented a diverse range of activities that include mental health care, family support, overseas aid, community sports programmes and post-natal care.

Princesshay security team to walk 70 miles for FORCE Cancer Charity

Princesshay security team are challenging themselves to complete a 70 mile walk in 24 hours, whilst raising funds for its charity of the year, FORCE Cancer Charity.

On Thursday 12th July, the security team will start their venture in Dorchester via Abbotsbury, then through to West Bay, Lyme Regis, Sidmouth and Exmouth, before reaching Princesshay as their final destination. The team are taking part in The Maddox Challenge in memory of a former colleague Paul Maddox, based at another site, who recently lost his battle with cancer.

At the Community Awards Presentation which took place last September at Mount Edgecumbe Masonic Hall Plymouth, Ian Kingsbury the Provincial Grand Master of Devonshire Freemasons presented Dream-A-Way with a cheque for £25,000.
