Exeter City slipped to their first league defeat of the season as they lost 2-0 away from home against Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena.

An unfortunate Troy Brown own goal and a late finish from Devon Kelly-Evans secured victory for a Coventry side who created a host of chances.

Hundreds of pyjama-clad runners, joggers and walkers from across Devon turned up at glorious Knightshayes near Tiverton on Sunday 17th September to take part in the Hospiscare Breakfast Run. The novelty event which featured a 5 or 10k route attracted runners from all age groups and abilities, with 482 people joining in to raise much-needed funds for local charity Hospiscare.

The participants enjoyed an off road course with some challenging inclines and were rewarded for their efforts at the end with a delicious breakfast from the Stables Kitchen.

National charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People has announced that it will be launching a brand-new puppy socialising scheme this month in Exeter, appealing for more Volunteers to step forward and help the life-transforming charity. Devon’s fastest growing traditional Karate club marked its 1 year anniversary last Saturday (16 September) with a special celebration event at the relaunch of Honiton’s LED Leisure Centre.

SYTL (Say Yes To Life) was launched in September 2016 by Sensei Paul Batters, a Japanese graded Black Belt, with the support of LED Leisure whose members train for free as beginners, then half price after their first grading.

Having started with just a handful of students, the club now has over 100 attendees per week from the age of 4 to 74, many of whom turned out for a special Birthday...

Family tribute to Silverton crash victim

A local man who died following a serious collision in Silverton last week has been named as Roger Tucker.

Mr Tucker died when the car he was travelling in was involved in a three-car collision on Park Road in Silverton, Devon.

His family have made the following tribute:

“Roger sadly died after a car accident on the evening of Friday 15th September 2017. Aged 74 years old he was a loving husband to Sue and devoted father to Laura and Stephanie and grandpa to Sophie, Kieran, Ben and Grace.

County cash boosts grassroots football

Seven of Exeter’s Devon County Councillors have earmarked part of their community budget to help get Devon’s young people more involved in sport.

Appeal for witnesses to high value burglary in Exmouth

Officers in Exmouth are appealing for witnesses following a burglary at a property on Cranford Avenue in Exmouth which happened between 4.30pm and 8pm on Friday 8 September 2017.

An offender gained access to the property through a ground floor bedroom window and stole a large amount of cash and jewellery.

Sterling adding up to £10,000 and $8,000 Hong Kong dollars was taken along with two Gucci wrist watches, a Rolex wrist watch, a Passport, gold and silver rings, a gold bracelet, a silver necklace, and a Jade hoop-shaped pendent.
