Stagecoach SW launches Green Week

Stagecoach South West today announced plans for its seventh annual Green Week programme with a call for joint action to tackle the growing challenge of climate change.

The company, which operates bus services across Devon and into Cornwall and Somerset is planning a series of events between 1 and 5 June.

During the week-long programme of activities, part of a wider Stagecoach Group initiative, Stagecoach South West will encourage employees and customers to continue driving forward the green agenda through the Group’s new five-year Sustainability Strategy.

Exeter Family Friendly support Business Games

Exeter Family Friendly have donated £1100 to the Exeter Foundation in support of the Exeter Business Games run by Bigwave Media.

The award-winning insurance provider partially pound-matched £50 for each of the 22 teams that are competing in the games, which hosts a variety of team-based sports events through May and June.

Currently eighth place in the results table, this is the fifth year running that Exeter Family Friendly have competed in the games against other local businesses.

The National Federation of Fishermen’s Organisations (NFFO) is offering fishermen financial support in a bid to cut accidents at sea.

Fishing remains one of the most dangerous professions in the UK, with 84 fishermen losing their lives in the past 10 years. Funding is being made available from the NFFO and supported by European Fisheries Fund (EFF), which will allow all fishermen operating vessels under 15 meters to claim up to 70 per cent of the cost to bring their vessel’s safety up to the Voluntary Code of Practice standard.

The Annual General Meeting of the Exeter & District Caledonian Society took place on Friday 22 May at Southernhay URC Hall in Exeter.

Over thirty members attended and current Vice President Greenock born Hilda Sterry has been elected to serve a two year term as President.

The chain of office was handed over by Sandy Garrity the outgoing President.

Rab Cross has been elected to serve as Vice President.

There are millions of offices all around the world, with tens of millions of workers in them, but they all have one thing in common: the annoying colleague.

Exeter’s office workers find a colleague whining to be the most annoying workplace habit, a new study reveals, although only 29% are prepared to do anything to try and stop the problem.

Solar firm praises national report on best time to buy panels

Renewable energy firm Solarlec has praised a national newspaper report enlightening consumers to the savings to be made through solar.

Telegraph Money has compiled data that shows how solar panel government subsidies have fallen over the past five years after peaking between 2010 and 2012.
