Fifteen brand new affordable homes in Bradninch were officially ‘handed over’ to their very first tenants. Social housing and care provider The Guinness Partnership developed the homes, which are built on the Duchy of Cornwall estate, in partnership with local agent Hawkcrest Land Ltd. and contractor C G Fry & Son Ltd.
Residents moved into the 11 two-bedroom, three three-bedroom and one, four-bedroom homes, which are all now let. The new homes were made available for people with a local connection and developed to help meet a need for affordable housing for rent in the area....

Devon’s first ever international horse trials drew plaudits from spectators and competitors alike following three days of intense competition which took place at Bicton Arena in East Devon at the weekend.
Organiser Helen West, who also manages the arena, had added an international class to Bicton’s schedule to provide Westcountry-based riders with the opportunity to ride at that level. She also wanted to make it a spectacle for visitors and used the main showjumping arena, which has its own natural amphitheatre, to position several new cross country fences.
Members of an Exeter drugs gang, intent on flooding the streets of the South West with amphetamines, have today been jailed for more than 18 years.
Bret Seldon, Shaun Greenham, Marc Smith and Gary Turley, all from Exeter, plus Richard Armitage from Holsworthy were sentenced to a total of 18 years and 10 months imprisonment by Exeter Crown Court.
The five men were all convicted of conspiracy to supply amphetamine and Armitage and Turley were also charged with conspiracy to supply cannabis.

Rachel Marshall a 39-year-old Mortgage Adviser ran the London Marathon on 26 April dressed as a lobster, to raise money for national deafblind charity Sense.
Rachel said: “It was challenging currying around a heavy, warm costume whilst running 26.2 miles, but it was great seeing everyone smile and cheering on the giant lobster scurrying past!”

Gina Awad has just returned from her Great Wall of China trek challenge in aid of dementia research. The trip whilst only 70 miles over 7 days was arduous with the huge vertical inclines, declines and never ending slopes and steps. She explains: "A group of 30 strangers raising money for a range of charities spent 9 days off the beaten track trekking the Great Wall. Nothing could have prepared me for such a surreal and liberating experience. Having not researched the trek was probably good in hindsight as I truly believe I would have backed out.
