Devon’s real housing needs revealed in major new independent report launched by conservation charity

Too many homes are being planned for Devon over the next decade, most of them are to be built on greenfield sites, and a staggering two-thirds will be bought by people who have moved into the county. Teignbridge to set up housing partnership

Teignbridge District Council’s Executive has agreed in invest £20million to help build new affordable homes across the district.

Landowners behind England’s 5,000 largest rural estates should be called upon to release land for affordable housing, according to The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Six new brightly coloured council homes set to providing sustainable and low energy housing for some of Exeter’s most vulnerable families.

New eco-friendly homes at Reed Walk, Newport Road will house six local families who have been waiting for a suitable place to live on Exeter’s Housing Register. The new three-bedroom homes, including one fully wheelchair accessible property, were completed in September.

Residents in a DCH housing scheme in Exeter have come together for a ‘community clean up’. Arena Park’s Green Group braved the cold weather to get out on their estate to clean up their local park and hedgerows.

Lesley Browne, Community Development Worker at DCH, said: “Following the recent storms lots of litter has been blown around the estate and the residents wanted to proactively give the area a clean up. All ages came together to help out, DCH provided litter picks, protective gloves and collection bags to support the event.”
