Exeter event offers an insight into apprenticeships

The Ofsted Grade 1 National Apprenticeship Providers have organised a number of Apprenticeship open days across the country which are due to take place throughout National Apprenticeship Week.

The events, which have been named as ‘Apprentice Insight Evenings’, will be a celebration of Apprenticeships and the impact they can have in the local area.

On 16th March, the Exeter academy will play host to both employers and young people from the local area who are considering the Apprenticeship route and will offer them an ‘insight’ into the world of Apprenticeships.

Devon firm recognised for commitment to apprenticeships

Vector7 Ltd of Honiton was invited to meet the Prime Minister, David Cameron, and Business Secretary Sajid Javid at a Downing Street reception on 18 January 2016, celebrating outstanding businesses and their apprenticeship schemes.

Sid Vale Association funded volunteer becomes full time National Trust Ranger

A volunteer trainee ranger who was funded by the Sid Vale Association’s Keith Owen Fund has become a permanent countryside ranger with the East Devon National Trust team.

Lucy Buckingham started as a trainee at the end of June 2014 and funding covered practical management work, community projects, events and public engagement and certificates in power tool use and first aid. After the completion of her training she became a seasonal ranger in April 2015 before being appointed to her new role this month.

Keeping employers up-to-date with apprentice employment legislation

Skills Group is holding a breakfast seminar to provide employers with an update on the recent increase in the national minimum wage for apprentices and the introduction of new pension legislation, on Wednesday 25 November 2015.

THE Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust has been highly commended for the second year in a row for the success of its apprenticeship scheme, which continues to bring significant benefits for learners and the organisation.

Two of its apprentices, Mandy Harper and Rhian Carruthers, have also received awards for their achievements.

Vision Express celebrates first wave of graduates

A group of youngsters are celebrating being the first graduates from an in-demand apprenticeship programme offering diverse career opportunities with national optical retailer Vision Express.
