Artist Nick Matson has teamed up with controversial television family The Fulfords to create a unique art holiday experience at their home near Exeter.

The Fulfords rose to fame with Channel 4’s The F***ing Fulfords and BBC3’s Life is Toff, which documented their unconventional way of living in their run-down stately home.

Local mental health project receives support of acclaimed artist

The Time to Change funded Double Elephant project based in Exeter has received support from acclaimed artist David Shrigley.

The mental health project aims to tackle the stigma that surrounds mental illness by engaging communities across Devon in print making whilst starting a conversation about mental health.

Call For Artists and Makers for Devon Open Studios 2014

Registration for the 2014 Devon Open Studios event has now opened; artists and craftspeople in the county are invited to get involved.

Devon Open Studios, sponsored by Helpful Holidays, is the largest annual art event in the county attracting more than 20,000 visits to artists’ studios each year. During Devon Open Studios 2013, over 16 days in September, 250 artists opened their studios in 140 locations across Devon. The event was a tremendous success with total sales and commissions last year reaching over £135,000.

Exeter Phoenix has announced that the Exeter Contemporary Open 2013 Audience Choice Award has been won by Max Cahn. The prestigious contemporary art exhibition, which opened on Friday 13 September, has seen hundreds of visitors vote for their favourite work. Margaret Lovell is an internationally acclaimed, award-winning modernist sculptor. Her works are distinguishable by their complex simplicity; the abstracted forms are both powerful and graceful; visually arresting.

She has been valued by the serious collector since first showing with Marjorie Parr in London in the sixties. This current exhibition at The Art Room will focus on a unique collection of sculpture, drawings and prints from 1956 to date, many of which have not been seen before.

Award winning Devon artist announces Dartmoor exhibition

Devon based artist Diane Bailey is proud to have received a BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year 2013 Award. She reached the finals with not one but two paintings, one of which went on to be voted overall winner in the category British Mammals. Devon artists receive warm hospitality in Italy

AventHolidays, founded by Woodbury-based Jeremy Jackson, launched the first of their Italian painting breaks in the beautiful UNESCO World Heritage City of Ferrara, Italy. Exeter artist Rebecca de Mendonca, tutored the pastel painting course to a seven-strong group, which included BBC Radio Devon presenter Judi Spiers and Exeter PR consultant Glen King.

Seahorses versus bananas - gorilla artists go head-to-head

Paignton Zoo’s Great Gorillas Project is well under way. And for two local artists, the rivalry is personal.

Husband and wife artists Deborah Treliving and Malcolm Law are going head-to-head. Malcolm is creating Cool Ice Cream Bananas Gorilla for the Princesshay Shopping Centre in Exeter, while Deborah is painting Hippocampus Guttulatus Gorilla on behalf of Cavanna Homes.

The Great Gorillas Project is celebrating the 90th birthday of the region’s largest and best-known zoo, Paignton Zoo Environmental Park, which is a registered charity.
