Poirot’s Great Gorilla mystery hots up

There’s increasing interest in the fate of a life-sized gorilla painted to look like Agatha Christie's famous detective, Hercule Poirot.

He is one of the star lots in a grand charity auction that takes place on Wednesday 6 November.

Poirot was created as part of The Great Gorillas Project, marking Paignton Zoo’s 90th birthday. Paignton Zoo spokesperson Phil Knowling said: “The question now is not so much “Whodunnit?” as “Whowillbuyit?”

GENEVA (AP) — Christie's has auctioned off the famed Archduke Joseph Diamond for $21,474,525 including commission, a world auction record price per carat for a colorless diamond.

The price was well above the expected $15 million and more than triple the price paid for it at auction almost two decades ago. The auction took place in Geneva.
