Secretary of State for Education makes virtual visit to Broadclyst school

The Secretary of State for Education, Gavin Williamson, joined a virtual Year 6 maths lesson and was then interviewed by Year 5 children in the TV studio at Broadclyst Community Primary School (BCPS) on Wednesday morning (24 February).

Following the good news that schools will be reopening on 8 March, the Secretary of State talked to the children about how they’ve been learning during lockdown and how much they are looking forward to being back in their classrooms. A war time effort at Killerton

A new exhibition has opened which features details of Broadclyst Primary School’s show stopping performance of 'Keep Calm and Carry On’ at Killerton House in June.

The entertaining promenade performance was developed by the schoolchildren in conjunction with Killerton staff and volunteers and gave the audience a rare chance to see World War II history brought to life in an innovative way. The performances were recorded on video and are now presented alongside displays of photographs, costumes and objects from the play.

Broadclyst Primary School and Killerton have partnered up once again to put on a show-stopping performance of Keep Calm and Carry On! on 13 and 14 June at 1.30pm and 4pm.

A play set in the days following the Exeter Blitz, Keep Calm and Carry On! will explore life as an evacuee at Killerton House. The production will take place as a series of sketches performed by the year 5 class and will take place around Killerton's house and garden.
