More than 40 volunteers have attended a special celebration organised by Westbank Community Health and Care to thank them for their tireless hard work and dedication throughout the year.

Local charity, Exeter Community Initiatives (ECI), is celebrating its 30th anniversary this summer!

Established in 1993, ECI has supported more than 50,000 people in Exeter and across Devon over the last three decades.

Initially set up by local churches to help homeless people in Exeter, ECI was originally known as the Palace Gate Project. It soon became an umbrella charity creating more than 25 new community projects, several of which still operate as independent charities today, including St Sidwell’s Centre, St Petrock’s and Homemaker South West Ltd.

Pupils at a Devon Primary School took centre stage in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations this week – with a starring role in a children’s news video.

Children from Broadclyst Primary School in Exeter were filmed for a special video in Discovery Education Espresso, the award-winning digital learning service used by thousands of schools across the UK.

There are around two million people living with sight loss in the UK. Guide Dogs aims to support people with a visual impairment to keep their independence and maintain their lifestyles. There are lots of different services on offer, ranging from our most well-known service, the guide dogs, through to children and young people’s services, technology, and our volunteering services such as My Guide.

Exminster Hair and Beauty is celebrating its first big birthday after 10 years in the heart of the village.

The professional salon began its life in a converted garage, before moving to the centre of Exminster in early 2008.

Now its dedicated team offer a wealth of experience and talent in providing top quality hair and beauty services to all customers.

Gold award for family-run holiday park

Oakdown Caravan and Camping Park, based on the East Devon coast, is celebrating after winning gold in the ‘Holiday Park of the Year’ category in the Visit Devon Tourism Awards.

The awards, which are now in their eighth year, celebrate the best of Devon Tourism.

Members of Devon based disability charity CEDA gathered at the charities base in Exeter to celebrate the arrival of their new accessible minibus. CEDA users, charity supporters, fundraisers and members of the staff team gathered to witness the parents of former CEDA user Greg Hurford cut the ribbon to mark the official launch of the new minibus. CEDA CEO Renata Colley said: “We are all thrilled with the new minibus – it’s going to make enabling our users to access our many services easier and more reliable.
