Pupils and staff at Exeter School are celebrating a successful first term of fundraising with the news that £9,646.40 has been raised for charity. Each year a committee of Sixth Form representatives selects three charities for the school to support during the course of the academic year. For the Autumn term, pupils chose Toilet Twinning, a charity which helps to fund projects in a poor communities that will enable families to build a basic toilet, have access to clean water and learn about hygiene. M&S and Rainbow Garden are calling on local people to roll up their sleeves and Spark Something Good in a week of volunteering that will positively impact 24 projects at the heart of the community in Exeter and Plymouth.

Lapford & District Horticultural Society open their gardens on the 28th and 29th of June in aid of Devon Air Ambulance Trust. Twelve unique parish gardens can be viewed including the school and allotments. Nine gardens are located in the village, with three about a mile away.

Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) regularly receives slightly unusual donations from the community but this week sees one of the most unusual. Heléna Holt explained “We received a call from Mat Mander, Deputy Chief Officer of the Devon & Severn Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority (D&SIFCA) recently, who advised they were making a donation of £792.38 to the Charity.” She added “This fantastic donation came from the sale of the mullet seized from an illegal net, found at the mouth of the River Erme in South Devon.
