Celebrate the start of a new week with an afternoon of horseracing in Devon at Newton Abbot Racecourse on Monday 25 July.

Racing for the afternoon starts at 14:15 and gates open at 12:15. The last race is at 17:30.

The Bear Trail set to get kids back in the great outdoors

Devon's latest outdoor adventure centre, The Bear Trail, is celebrating its official Opening Day on Saturday 23rd July. The Bear Trail is an innovative and challenging outdoor adventure trail set over a 10 acre site in Wescott, near Cullompton, which features over 16 separate obstacles where children (and adults!) can run, jump and climb their way across zig-zag bridges, high nets and bear-infested mud pits.

World class athletes support Devon youngsters

Over the next four years, world class athletes will be supporting over 2,300 young disadvantaged people in Devon.

The Dame Kelly Holmes Trust, founded by double Olympic gold medallist Dame Kelly Holmes, has been working in Devon for several years now.

The trust has announced it will work with 2,300 disadvantaged young people through the mentoring schemes Get on Track and On Track to Achieve.

Harold the Giraffe, the mascot of children’s charity Life Education Wessex (LEW), is going on the road for a week from Monday 11th July to spread the word about an exciting online resource available without charge to schools from September.

‘Harold’ the Giraffe puppet will be making a whistle-stop tour of as many schools as possible throughout Devon, Somerset, Dorset and Hampshire before the end of the academic year. Enterprising award for four schools at Big Bang Fair SW

Four Devon schools have had their ingenuity recognised with a special award at the University of Exeter’s Big Bang Fair South West in Exeter this week (Wednesday 29 June 2016).
