Family events at A la Ronde this half term

From pumpkins to apples and bats to spooky stories, there will be plenty going on this October Half term at A la Ronde’s popular Apple Day and Hallowe’en Spooktacular events.

This Autumn half term from Tuesday 28th October to Saturday 1st November, The Bike Shed Theatre, in Exeter’s Fore Street, will be transformed into a kitchen, dining room, and story-world for the arrival of Tortoise & Hare- as they make a meal of storytelling. Make Christmas special for disadvantaged kids

Rather than seeing other children go without toys in the festive season, research from Argos and Barnardo’s shows that 95 per cent of children would happily give up some of their Christmas presents, if it meant a disadvantaged child could enjoy a happier Christmas.

Young cyclists have the opportunity to take part in a Go Ride Racing cyclo-cross event for beginners on Saturday (27 September).

The event at Mincinglake Valley Park in Exeter is an opportunity for young people aged from seven to 16 years old to get their first taste of one of the nation’s fastest growing cycling disciplines, cyclo-cross.

Devon children act up for healthy living

An innovative programme bringing actors into classrooms across Devon to encourage and support children to make healthier choices on diet and exercise has been selected to feature in this week’s British Science Festival.

The Healthy Lifestyles Programme is being run by specialists from the University of Exeter Medical School and Plymouth University Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry.

The programme sees Year 5 pupils work with a drama group who play the part of four characters: Snacky Sam, Disorganised Duncan, Active Amy and Football Freddie.
