Devon’s ‘newest school’ - covering Exeter and the whole of south Devon – has appointed its first Principal in advance of opening in September 2015.
The University of Exeter-backed South Devon University Technical College (UTC) will offer a new way of learning for up to 600 young people aged 14 to 18, recruiting from Exeter as well as Teignbridge, Torbay, , Plymouth and the South Hams.

Fire crews have been called to the Exeter College site today after reports of a vehicle fire.
The estates manager of Exeter College, Steve Strang said "An external vehicle came onto site in one of our loading bays and was discovered to have smoldering paper on board.
"Two applicances attended the scene to dampen down and we are now in the clearing up process. "There was no obvious cause and there was no immediate danger to our students staff or buildings.”
A possible outbreak of mumps at Clyst Vale Community College in Broadclyst has seen health authorities ask the public to check they have had two doses of the MMR vaccine. In all twenty possible cases have been reported at Clyst Vale affecting both students and teachers and has been connected to Cullompton Rugby Club who cancelled games on Saturday 1st March to reduce the risk of further infection. The first consultation for the new Exeter Mathematics School (EMS) will be held on 28 August at the University of Exeter.
The new school will be a mathematically oriented, academic sixth form, providing an environment in which those with an interest in, and aptitude for, mathematics can be stimulated, developed and stretched.
