It's that time of the year again to have another 'West Side' Community Meeting.

This time we're going to be holding it at Redhills School on Wed 25th Apr from 7pm - 8.30pm. We realized that our last meeting went on for longer than we wanted so we're going to cut this one by half an hour.

We've got a lot to fit in but our agenda at the minute is:

Shaping the future of Cowick Barton fields

Following an ongoing community consultation exercise, last Saturday 10th October marked the start of an exciting new phase in the planned activity trail at Cowick Barton fields.

The Steering Group for the Cowick Barton Alcoa Activity Trail which includes councillors, residents, activity providers, Active Devon and Exeter City Council, met in the park to do a walk around and hands on mapping exercise.

A group campaigning for better travel solutions in the south west areas of Exeter has asked all prospective councillors for Cowick, Alphington and St Thomas for their views on key issues such as whether or not they support a review of proposed measures, including a park and ride on the site of Oaklands Riding School. Alphington and Cowick start street light switch off

Around 1,000 streetlights in residential streets in Alphington and Cowick will be converted to part-night lighting tonight. Exeter street lights previously on all-night will be switched off from about 12:30am to 5:30am, before coming on again until dawn. Lighting on the main roads and busiest routes, including Alphington Road, Buddle Lane, Cowick Lane, Dunsford Road, Church Road (Alphington), Alphinbrook Road, Hennock Road Central and Bad Homburg Way will remain unchanged, operating all night. Award materializes for young monster artist

Pandora Munoz has won first prize in a design a Doctor Who monster competition run by St Thomas Library.

The library, situated in Church road, Exeter, hosted an award event presenting Pandora with an upgraded version of the design she created.

The monster was redrawn and coloured by Simon Brett a local artist who works for the longest running scifi magazine in the world, Starburst. He presented Pandora with a framed original of her creature: ‘The Soul Stealer’.

Cowick Councillors' New Year Resolution

For two years, City Councillors Paul Bull and Heather Morris have been hearing how speeding in Cowick has affected the lives of residents.

'Naked Ladies' event to raise funds for Carousel Toy Library

Parents from West Exe Children’s Centre are organising a fundraising evening with a difference in aid of Carousel Toy Library, which provides a wide range of good quality toys for children to take home and play with for a week or two.

The toy library, part of the local Merry Go Round charity, faces closure after losing its main funding but families are determined to keep Carousel up and running as it provides a fantastic service for children across the west side of the city.
