15-year-old Devon girl dies after taking unknown substance

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a Devon teenager in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police were informed by an ambulance crew at around 4:50am on Saturday 15th July that they had taken a 15-year-old girl to Torbay District Hospital who was unconscious after taking an unknown substance.

Police attended both the hospital and Bakers Park in Newton Abbot which was where the teenager in question was located. Sadly, the girl later died at hospital. Her next of kin have been informed and police are supporting the family.

Man believed to be from Exeter dies on Snowdonia

A man, who is believed to be from Exeter, has died after falling while walking on Tryfan mountain in Snowdonia with his daughter.

The alert was raised at around 12.10pm on Sunday when man, who is thought to be in his late 50s, fell a 'considerable' distance'.

He was pronounced dead shortly after.

Pc Gethin Jones, of North Wales Police said: "The man, who is not local to the area, was located and airlifted to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor but sadly he was pronounced dead.

"His next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with his family and friends."...

Sir Terry Wogan has died his family said today.

He had been battling cancer and was 77.

Sir Terry who presented a weekly show on Radio 2, had a presenting career spanning more than 50 years, from his chatshow Wogan on BBC1 to the Eurovision Song Contest and Blankety Blank.

In 1969, he began a daily show on Radio 1 and 2, taking over the morning show on Radio 2 three years later.

He presented this until 1984, shortly before starting his thrice-weekly chatshow Wogan on BBC1, which ran for the next seven years.

Motorcyclist dies following A38 crash

A motorcyclist has died following a collision on the A38 at Tiverton this morning (Monday 27 July).

Emergency services were called at 8.30am following the collision between the Honda CBR 125 motorcycle and a fuel tanker near Burlescombe. A third vehicle, a white Citroen C2, was also involved in the collision.

The motorcyclist, a man 23 year old man from the Tiverton area, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Next of kin have been informed.

A national silence of one minute will be held today at 12pm in a mark of respect who lost their lives in the Tunisia beach attack.

The bodies of 17 of the 30 British victims have been returned to the UK and more are expected to be repatriated on today and tomorrow.

Man in his early 20s found dead in St Thomas

A man in his early 20s was found dead in St Thomas, Exeter this morning, Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed. The man, who has yet to be identified, was found at 7.12am in a residence on Merrivale Road by ambulance crews. It is currently believed that the man was from the Exeter area, but it is not yet clear who called the ambulance, or what caused his death.

The police have said of the incident: “We are making ongoing enquiries, but the death is not being treated as suspicious.” The area surrounding the house is currently under police investigation.

The body recovered from the sea last Saturday (11 January) has been formally identified as the missing teenager Harry Martin today (16 January).

A formal inquest into the death of Mr Martin, who went missing from his home in Newton Ferrers during the height of the recent storms, is due to begin next Monday (20 January).

The 18-year-old’s body was found in Carswell Bay in the Noss Mayo area by friends who were aiding in the search effort using sea kayaks.

Eight people have been killed after a police helicopter crashed into a packed pub in Scotland.

The accident happened as a band was playing at 10.25pm yesterday with witnesses saying the aircraft 'dropped like a stone'.

Dozens of others have been injured and 32 are being treated at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Appeal to trace mother and son's last movements at Haytor

Detectives investigating the death of a mother and son at Haytor will be returning to Dartmoor one week after the tragic event to appeal for the public’s help to establish the pair’s last movements.

Katherine Hooper, 24, and her five-year-old son Joshua died after falling from rocks last Friday (12 July). Police later discovered the body of her two-year-old son Sam at her home in Dukes Close, Paignton.
