A new support programme has been launched by Devon County Council to help small businesses and community groups.

Get Set to Tender is offering free support to Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) who have less than 250 employees, to help them respond to public sector organisation tendering opportunities.

The project, which will operate until March 2023, is part of a wider package of support being delivered through Devon’s £6 million recovery programme which aims to provide help and support in four key areas: small and medium enterprises, employment and skills, the green...

Devon is on the road to recovery

Highways teams continue to work to get Devon moving again following the gale forces winds that hit the region on Friday.

Friday morning and early afternoon represented the ‘peak’ of Storm Eunice in Devon, with wind speeds recorded of up to 100mph in places.

And on Friday evening the temperatures fell and gritters were out in force with all the gritting routes treated

A Red Wind Warning had been issued by the Met Office for Northern Devon and an Amber Wind Warning for the rest of the county.

And while over the weekend wind speeds slowed, 150 highways...

Dont Always Assume You Are Healthy

I always felt healthy, and luckily, I haven’t suffered any major health implications, so when I attended my annual health check with my gp, I was surprised to find out that my blood sugar level was 43. This was a high reading, and put me in the pre diabetic category, so I was concerned at first, then realised that there was something I could do to stop it going any higher and reverse it. One area I could control was my weight. I was 14 stone and was referred by my gp to join the NHS/WW (formerly Weight Watchers), Healthier You scheme.

I was unsure how WW could help, but glad I gave...

A new organisation has been appointed to run the integrated urgent care service in Devon.

The group currently answers 1.5million calls a year to NHS 111, and runs out of hours services, urgent treatment centres, minor injuries units, hospitals...

Clear up continues as temperatures set to drop tonight

More than 150 highways officers worked round the clock to respond to hundreds of separate reports of damage caused by the wind across Devon today.

But with gritters being deployed tonight to counter the expected drop in temperature, and the amount of debris still on the network, people are being advised only drive tonight unless its absolutely necessary.

Friday morning and early afternoon represented the ‘peak’ of Storm Eunice in Devon, with wind speeds recorded of up to 100mph in places.
