The Book Shop on Crediton High Street took a big step towards a new social enterprise era on Saturday 17th November with the launch of the share issue to create Crediton Community Bookshop.

Farmers in the South West are being given the chance to tell local MEPs what they think of European policy for agriculture (CAP) at an event this week with the European Parliament.

‘Sowing the seeds of a new Common Agricultural Policy’ will take place on Friday 23 November 2012 from 12.30pm to 3.30pm at the National Farmers Union (NFU) South West office in Exeter .

Kruger coins and laptops stolen during Sidford burglary

Two distinctive 10 oz South African Kruger coins have been stolen during a burglary at Sidford. Police are appealing for witnesses after the home in Drakes Avenue was entered between 8.55 and 15.40 on Friday 16th November 2012 when the thieves managed to break in through a PVC door. In addition, they stole several items including electrical items, jewellery and camera equipment. It is likely that this was carried away in a distinctive black Sidmouth Rugby Club kit bag. Every teacher from 14 primary schools across Devon got together to celebrate the successful first year of the biggest primary academy trust in the country.

Temporary home sought for Police puppy Betty

Police dog handlers are trying to track down a temporary home for a new puppy before she begins her police training.

Betty, an 11-week-old German shepherd, needs a home for nine months to help with socialisation prior to embarking on her new career.

She is too young to start intensive training, so police require a family to home her with until her first birthday.

Once a fully trained general purpose police dog she will be able to assist tracking missing people, locate stolen property, chase and detain suspects and keep order in crowd...

Tony Hogg welcomed as new Police & Crime Commissioner

Devon & Cornwall's new Police and Crime Commissioner, Tony Hogg, who received 64,419 votes in last week's election, has said that he believed his military background helped him gain the winning votes.
