Resurfacing work on the Exe Estuary Trail

Resurfacing will be carried out on a section of the Exe Estuary Trail near Bridge Road next week (Monday 10 February).

The stretch of the shared-use trail between Bridge Road and Station Road car park, near the Turf Hotel, will be closed for approximately five days from Monday 10 February while the repair scheme is carried out.

Part of the towpath public right of way, which leads on and off the trail between Bridge Road and the Station Road car park, will also be closed to the general public for the duration of the work, which is expected to be completed by the weekend of...

Tools needed to help young people in Africa

RGB Building Supplies is delighted to have once again joined forces with South West-based charity Amigos to invite customers and members of the local community to donate preloved tools, which will go on to be used by young people in Africa.

People with a range of disability and accessibility needs have started the new decade on a happy note thanks to Paignton Zoo. The conservation charity has joined forces with the National Lottery and accessibility experts Closomat to provide a new Changing Places toilet.

Changing Places toilets have more room and more equipment than standard accessible toilets. The zoo’s new facility is attached to the main Island restaurant overlooking the lake. "My mum was born without a thyroid gland. She has learning difficulties and some physical problems, and she gets depressed. Her problems have affected me and my sister in lots of ways.

Residents have the chance to help influence the way we all enjoy and access the county’s beautiful coastlines , countryside, parks and trails by joining the Devon Countryside Access Forum.

Local access forums are statutory bodies, set up under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000, that give independent advice on how to enhance and improve public access to land for open air recreation and enjoyment.

Scottish actor Mark Bonnar, star of Guilt, Line of Duty and Shetland, is to become a patron of national charity Heart Research UK.

Mark first became involved with the charity in 2018, producing a piece of original artwork that was auctioned as part of the charity’s anonymous heART project.

The Devon branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE Devon) is seeking Devon’s Best Churchyard of 2020 and is inviting churches of all denominations to enter the competition by the end of March.

Families are being invited to get their tickets for ‘Exeter’s brightest’ 5k charity fun run, taking place at Westpoint this summer.

Registration for Rainbow Run on Saturday, June 20 opened yesterday Thursday (January 30), with a 25 per cent discount available for those who sign up early.

More than 1,000 people walked, jogged or ran through a series of coloured paint stations at last year’s event, raising £55,000 for Children’s Hospice South West.
