The Devon branch of the countryside charity CPRE is looking for budding young artists who can capture the beauty and variety of the county’s natural landscapes, from its wild moorlands to its sheltered river valleys.
Young artists aged 18 and under have until the end of September to submit a painting, drawing, textile, collage, or mixed media artwork of a Devon view to win the coveted title of Devon’s Best Young Landscape Artist 2023. The landscape could be a favourite beach or beauty spot, a local park or green space, somewhere visited on a day out or even the artist’s back garden...
The Devon branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England is inviting church communities and primary school children from across the county to enter competitions to celebrate some of the things that make Devon so special.

Put your sketching skills to the test and send us your picture of the West Front of the Cathedral. You can use pencils, pens, paints, charcoal or anything you like to create your drawing. There’s a fantastic opportunity coming up to learn to draw plants in the beautiful surroundings of the Axe Estuary Wetlands near Seaton, with a Botanical Art Workshop on Friday 16 May, 10am – 4pm.
Accomplished botanical and wildlife artist Linda Hampson will be teaching drawing techniques using coloured pencils that can be applied to any plants. Linda was a prize winner at the Society of Botanical Artists Annual Exhibition in 2013, and examples of her exceptionally beautiful drawings can be seen on the South West Society of Botanical Artists website www.swsba.org.uk
Two free, family, drop-in and draw events at Devon Guild this half-term. Exeter Community Centre holds four-month exhibitions of painting, drawing, photography, print and a few ceramics. The work is curated from submissions and is open for anyone to apply. There is a Hanging Policy regarding content, but a very open-minded approach to form.
Exhibitions are rolling, every 4 months. The next is from 2nd-3rd February 2013. There are no charges for exhibiting or commission taken for any sales.
Artists are required to have their own PPL insurance and further insurance at their own discretion.
